If blackheads look ready to pop out, you could try removing them gently by using a blackhead extractor. This is a neat little instrument with a hole at one end, available from chemists. Pressure around the blackhead helps it to pop out through the hole. Also, Pore cleanser strips are highly recommended for the treatment/removal of blackheads. Using them once per week will leave your pores cleaner and smaller.
Otherwise use your fingers. Steam your face first to soften both the skin and the material blocking the pores. Then wrap the fingers in tissues and gently roll against either side of the blackhead. If it won't budge easily, leave well alone, as too much pressure will bruise and break the skin, making your face red and blotchy for days to come, and possibly leaving tiny broken veins. Finish by applying a medicated cream to the empty pore.
Only ever squeeze a spot with a definite head that looks about to burst - pressure on an unready infected spot spreads bacteria below the skin's surface, infecting the surrounding tissue. Bad spots need a doctor's advice, and he may suggest antibiotic or even hormone therapy.
Whiteheads are commonly removed using an extractor. Boil water in a pot and let it to steam. Steam your face in this water for about 6-8 minutes. Cover your head with a towel while you are steaming. Steaming the face allows all the pores to open up. Look into the mirror and place the extractor loop right on the whitehead to be removed and gently press; this will remove the whitehead completely. Apply either a small amount of alcohol or benzoyl peroxide on the treated area. This will keep bacteria away from the open pores.
Many dermatologists opine that it may be better not to use extractors to remove whiteheads. Use of exfoliators can help in dealing with whiteheads. Use of gentle exfoliating scrubs or gentle peels may instead help in removing surplus surface debris on the skin, thereby tackling formation of whiteheads. Washing the face with warm water a couple of times a day might help dislodge the whiteheads. Alternatively you can place a towel dipped in warm water and squeezed dry on the face.

DO NOT SQUEEZE THEM!!! iiF YOU DO, WiiLL JUST MAKE BLACK SPOTS ON YOUR FACE!!! iiTS REALLY BAD TO SQUEEZE THEM SO DONT!! TRUST ME, ii HAD ONE ON MY NOSE THE OTHER DAY AND ii DiiDN'T KNOW MY OWN STRENGTH AND ii ACCiiDENTLY POPPED iiT OUT....ii NOW HAVE A BLACK SPOT ON THAT PART OF MY FREAKiiN NOSE!!! SO DON'T SQUEEZE iiT...ii'M TELLiiNG YOU HUN!!!
BLACKHEADS AND WHITEHEADS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME THINGS, PORES BLOCKED BY THE OIL IN THE SKIN. WHITEHEADS TURN BLACK WHEN THE ACID IN THEM MIX WITH THE AIR. THE BEST TIME TO SQUEEZE THEM IS AFTER A SHOWER AS THE STEAM OPENS UP THE PORES AND THEY COME OUT EASIER.
NEVER SQUEEZE WITH OUT WASHING YOUR HANDS AS U CAN INFECT THEM. IF U FIND THAT THE BLACKHEAD SO NOT COMING OUT, LEAVE IT UNTIL YOUR NEXT SHOWER AND TRY AGAIN. SQUEEZING TOO HARD COULD DAMAGE THE SKIN AND THE TINY VAINS UNDER THE SKIN.
